C L U T C H

I have to be honest. Back in the days, I used to be the girl who would bring EVERYTHING in her purse. In fact I would hate small purses where I couldn't even fit my wallet. I felt the need to bring products that I might need just in case something will happen: hand cream, hand sanitiser, perfume, the whole make up bag, comb... I can go on and on. Now I'm all about the crossbody bag and the clutches. The less I bring, the better.

I guess that my bring-everything-compulsive-disorder is due to the fact that I wasn't confident enough with myself. I'm still not confident enough, but I'm slowly working on it. Why was it connected to my confidence, you might ask. I just thought that the 'more' things I brought to 'take care' of my self, better and prettier I'd feel. It was the opposite. Throughout the day I'd pile on more make up, powder, mascara, lipstick, but the more I put on, the less pretty I'd feel. Often it'll be the opposite: I would bring my whole make up bag and never touched up, 'cause I thought, if someone's really pretty then she doesn't need to touch up nor to put on make up. TEENAGERS PROBLEMS. Always obsessed about looks. During my teenage years, I remember that at one point I wished to be shorter, skinnier, I hated my lips, nose, eyes, skin; basically I wanted to change everything. But that's because during our early teens, our body changes as well as our facial features. It is the time where we go from kids to young adults, physically and mentally. That is why. Thank goodness maturity, realisation and acceptance comes quickly afterwards. We see ourselves all the time, that's why we get sick of ourselves. That's when clothes-fashion and make up-beauty come in. We need those to polish our selves and give us that little push we need to help accept us.

SUMMER 2014 RECAP

 D U B A I

A week have passed already since the new year has come and on New Year's Eve I haven't had the chance to contemplate on the year that have just gone by. What has happened in 2014? Well, I've started my second year in uni, found old friendships, met new people, started to finally enjoying eating vegetables and craving fruit/veggies juices, working out, taking good care of my body and I've also cut my hair short, two times already! Which I've never thought I'd be able to pull of, ever, but the truth is that I love it and I'm actually planning on not letting my hair grow long for a while. And how could I forget! I turned TWENTY in 2014.

I'll probably be the only one, but I've been stressing out a lot about entering my twenties. I know that I'm still young, but so many people have already chose what to do or have already started achieving something in life, while I'm still here, at home, in my hometown... The twenties are also the years where we are bound to meet and lose people in our lives, the years where we would probably find our soulmate, get married, have a family, find a job and probably going to live overseas, who knows. From 20 to 29 many things are about to happen in our lives and as we get older, bigger hardships will come, but also bigger lessons would we be learned and so bigger achievements and fulfilment we will conquer. To celebrate the next 347 days and the many years ahead of us, here are some highlights of  my 2014.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Couldn't sleep last night at the thought of making this new blog and slept at 5 am to prepare this new platform. I started blogging on Tumblr since I was 16, eager to share my personal life and fashion choices. Had a blog a long time ago but took it down, created Theunpetaledrose and started it over and over again, too many times actually, cause was never 100% satisfied with my posts, contents and picture quality. Also if acquaintances would react and comment regarding my written contents, I would immediately feel somewhat uncovered and feel fragile at the thought that, someone I actually know in person, could have had a peek at my sentiments.
Sharing what's going on in my heart and mind and quickly shutting the doors is not going to happen again. So I will try my best to challenge and push my self into creating something I'll be really proud and satisfied with. Hopefully you'll guys enjoy this new journey!

As I've done a quick personal intro, here are some of my favorite autumn and winter season trends.
Oversized coats have been a must for me during these last couple of years. They do not only make you extremely warm, but they also make your basic outfit look like you put a lot of effort into than you actually have. Oversized coats are everywhere nowadays: you can step in a random clothing store and instantly find one. Even though these coats are easy to be found, I still look for certain characteristics.
Last year my main focus on coats were big lapelles, one button closing and over the posteriour lenght. For the winter season of 2014 I still wanted a boxy fit coat but with few changes on the characteristics such us: over the knee lenght, a coat that would come down to the calves and one with warm, good quality fabric. A perfect example is the coat from COS, 117 cm long and 80% made of wool. The fabric was one of the main things I was really attentive of and this coat didn't dissapoint my expectations (it kept me warm on -2 degrees celsius). With the statement and the warmness of a good quality oversized coat, a basic simple outfit underneath is absolutely perfect. On a simple day out, there's no need to think too hard about what to wear: your favourite turtle neck, another must have for this winter, is right on point to keep you warm and looking fashionable; some leather pants to add edge and depth to the outfit and statement shoes and you're ready! Today I chose to wear my new Stan Smith's from Adidas with my big grey coat: white shoes that will brighten up my very grey outfit. White, clean sneakers are a YES, even more paired with masculine, office and dressy looks! (Click here to see how I style them)
